Pour Over Guide

Pour Over Guide

WHY POUR OVER?
Pour overs give your greater control over each
step of the brewing process. You are able to
control the speed in which you pour the hot
water as well as the amount. All of this will
impact the taste. It allows you to create a wide
range of recipes, offering different qualities of your coffee beans.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Electric Kettle • 13g medium ground beans • Dripper of your
choice (Eg Hario V60, Chemex etc.) • Scale Paper filter
Hot water - 93 degrees Celsius • Coffee server • Cup

Steps to Brew Coffee Using a Pour-Over

1. Measure and Grind Your Coffee
- Measure out 25 grams of Bean Burst coffee beans.
- Grind the beans to a medium consistency, similar to table salt. The exact grind size may vary based on your specific pour-over device, so you may need to experiment slightly.

2. Boil Water
- Bring your water to a boil and then let it cool for about 30 seconds to achieve the ideal brewing temperature (around 200°F or 93°C).

3. Prepare the Filter
- Place the paper filter in your pour-over brewer.
- Rinse the filter with hot water to remove any paper taste and preheat the brewer. Discard the rinse water.

4. Add Coffee Grounds
- Place the pour-over brewer on your scale and add the ground coffee. Tare the scale to zero.

5. Bloom the Coffee
- Start your timer and pour just enough hot water (about 50 grams) to saturate the coffee grounds evenly.
- Allow the coffee to bloom for about 30-45 seconds. This releases gases and ensures even extraction.

6. Pour the Water
- After the bloom, begin pouring the remaining water in a slow, circular motion, avoiding the edges of the filter.
- Pour in stages, maintaining a steady flow. For 25 grams of coffee, you’ll be adding water until the scale reads 400 grams.
- The total pouring time should be around 2:30 to 3:30 minutes.

7. Stir and Wait
- After the final pour, give the brew a gentle stir to ensure all grounds are fully immersed.
- Allow the coffee to finish dripping through the filter. The total brew time should be around 3:30 to 4:00 minutes.

8. Serve
- Once brewing is complete, remove the pour-over brewer and discard the used filter and grounds.
- Pour your freshly brewed Bean Burst coffee into your favorite mug and enjoy!
